The Key – 5th May 2014

This week

On Monday night we will not meet at the Soccer Club for our usual meeting as many members and their guests will be attending the Rotary Peace Fellows’ Dinner at Regatta Point, 6.30 for 7pm. Dinner is $60pp. To register visit

Last week

Last Monday members had a very productive Club Assembly and Board Meeting, progressing many important matters.

In keeping with the spirit of Anzac Day commemorations when we remember those that served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations, members shared thoughts about its significance. In particular, Member Bob shared with us the very personal significance of the day for him, which was appreciated.

We had a very successful BBQ at Magnet Mart last Saturday (photo below), requiring replenishment of supplies by lunchtime.

Last weekend, Member Sandra and her ROMAC (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children Ltd) Vanuatu “family” were invited to Prof David Croaker’s home for afternoon tea. Sandra’s family includes Tourana (mother of Leon who had successful surgery last year), Reedly (who is currently undergoing medical treatment) and Reedly’s mother Juliette. Both families are from the same village near Port Vila. Prof Croaker has led his medical team to look after both boys who have had bowel surgery that could not be done in their own country.

At our meeting last Monday night, we toasted the Rotary Club of Port Vila, District
